Female athlete Health

Only 35% of sports science research includes women. And in snow sports, most coaches are still male. So knowledge about female athlete health and performance isn’t as widely available as it should be.

While scientists and researchers close that gap, we’re sharing what we do know. About your menstrual cycle, pelvic floor and rapid adolescent growth and how they could impact training, competing and living. We’ll take a look at the importance of fuelling and recovering well and at the psychological differences between women and men and how they might play out in snow sports. Because understanding yourself builds confidence and helps you train smarter. If you’ve got coaches or supporters in your corner, invite them to dive in too.

Nutrition

As a young athlete, your body needs more energy — not just to train and compete, but to support growth, development, and overall wellbeing.

With so much nutrition advice online—and so little of it backed by science—it can be hard to know what to follow. That’s why we’ve partnered with Carolyn Cruden, a High Performance Sport NZ nutritionist, to share clear, evidence-based guidance. These resources will help you make confident, informed choices to fuel your body and mind well, support your sporting goals, and stay strong and healthy in all areas of life.

STRENGTH & Conditioning

Competitive snow sports put high physical demands on your body—so building strength and fitness is key to supporting your performance and preventing injuries. And it helps you stay strong and well so you can get the most out of life.

By building a strong, resilient body, you’ll be better equipped to meet the physical challenges of training and competition, reduce your risk of injury, and recover more effectively. These resources will help you train smart, move well, and stay strong for whatever life throws your way.

Mental Skills

Our success and happiness in life — and in sport— is influenced not just by what’s happening to us, but by how we feel about it and respond.

Learning the skills to help us manage our reactions, thoughts, and emotions is a key driver of performance and wellbeing. The more mental skills we have, the better we’re able to thrive in sport and life - even when the going gets tough.
